Paper-Cutting Basics Workshop With Arunesh Dwivedi

Paper cutting is the art of creating designs out of paper. It originated in China in the 4th century AD. Since then, art kept evolving in unique ways throughout the world in an attempt to adapt to different cultural methods. Paper cutting is a versatile art form, as one can create any design as per their requirements, ranging from simple and basic to complex three-dimensional designs. To provide the Rooftop family with knowledge of this amazing art form and to help them take a break from their day-to-day activities, we organized a highly interesting and exciting paper-cutting basics workshop with expert artist Arunesh Dwivedi.

About The Artist

The workshop began with Arunesh greeting and expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the attendees. He then showcased some of his previous artworks, just to give a clear understanding of what exactly paper cutting is. Further, he went on to differentiate between the different types of paper cutting and explained each of them in a very detailed and calm manner. He also explained the different types of materials used in paper cutting along with the types of knives and their specialities. He explained some points to keep in mind while using the knives, such as while using intricate paper, the blades used should be shorter. From the beginning itself, the session was intriguing and engaging and a gleam of satisfaction could be seen on the faces of the attendees.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As we progressed towards the end of the workshop, attendees were joyful and full of excitement. As the session proved to be wonderful and full of learning. At the end of the session, each one of the attendees was able to take home beautiful handmade paper cutouts.

Arunesh then showed some more of his previous artworks, which were quite amazing and inspired the participants to create more.
