Alcohol Inks Workshop With Mahima Mehta

Alcohol ink paintings are an amazing work of fluid art. It is aesthetically satisfying to make such creative and free-flowing paintings. Alcohol ink’s a perfect opportunity for non-artists to get their hands on beautiful abstract artwork. To learn more about this trendy style, The Rooftop conducted an Alcohol Inks Workshop with Mahima Mehta.

About The Artist

Mahima has been a very passionate artist ever since her childhood. That being said, she started her classes at the age of 10. Since then she has undertaken various forms of art and is nowhere near stopping from exploring more. She believes she isn’t perfect but teaching her art through workshops lets her become a better artist.

The Alcohol Inks Workshop Began

Mahima gave a brief introduction about how to use alcohol inks and talked about the different methods they would attempt in the workshop. She explained how in the case of watercolour painting, water is the most important element.

In the same sense, she said, “Blending solution is the main hero when it comes to alcohol ink painting”. On a synthetic sheet, she worked on showing the basics with a twirl method. She also explained the most surprising part about this art, that the mistakes can be erased with ease.

The second method was carried out on a coaster circle sheet with tapes. She painted a combination of magenta and metallic gold that shimmered in beauty. And finally, she started off with the final method which was a lovely flower. This painting was implemented with straws, which gave a very vibrant look to the flowers.

Towards The End Of The Alcohol Inks Workshop

Mahima commented on how alcohol ink gives the liberty to use any colour and produces soothing results. She discussed a variety of ways in which one could decorate their house using this art. She reminded everyone to not forget to varnish the finished artwork as it holds the colour pigments.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
