Kalamkari painting is one of India’s prominent traditional art forms that originated and began to spread from the state of Andhra Pradesh, India  One can find its implicit spread in temples, cotton cloths and on canvases of passionate creative minds. It is further segregated into major types namely:- 

  1. Srikalahasti Style
  2. Machilipatnam Style

The art form is widely practised by the generation of artists and is blended with numerous aspects making it more appealing and artistic. About the Artist:- 

Abdika Sharma is a well celebrated and recognised Artist and art instructor who has successfully transformed thousands of lives through her teachings and guidance. Throughout her career tenure, she has been acknowledged and appreciated by a number of crucial bodies for her service.

The workshop began:- 

The Kalamkari workshop began with the host making a special announcement about the mentor and her hands down experience in the art field. On successful introduction, the mentor then took over the session and began with briefing the essentials of the art form and the piece that was to be created. 

She used easy and clear language to mark her instructions in order to allow learners to make promising and constructive steps. She started with instructing the essentials of making a border and then began with the art piece structure. She shared some tips and tricks for making figures in an easy and convenient manner. The session progressed in a fun and engaging manner as the mentor remained open to questions and queries by learners. 

Towards the end of the workshop:- 

The workshop concluded on a very informative and productive note. Towards the end, a beautiful kalamkari art piece was created by the mentor which was also co-created by the learners of the workshop. Their pieces, in the end, were highlighted and guided with effective feedback that helped them enhance their pieces for the better. 

The session was of great value that compelled learners of different ages and locations to roof together and learn art forms that speak volumes. 

The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
