Chamba Rumal workshop with Dr Rohini Arora was by Rooftop. The Chamba Rumal gets its name from Chamba, a hill station in Himachal Pradesh, where it has been practised for centuries. The earliest records of the region go back to the 2nd century BC, making it one of the most ancient destinations in the state. The region is known for its history, architecture and landscapes but the local community is also known for its arts and crafts, in particular the miniature Pahari paintings. The Pahari school of art has received royal patronage since the 17th century when it is believed to have originated in the region.

About The Artist

The artists from Chambal are renowned for their Chamba Rumal in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

The Workshop Began

Rohini greeted all the participants and thanked them for the Introduction. She explained the making and pattern of Chamba talking about the minute details of Chamba. All the attendees got to know about the rich cultural art of Himachal Pradesh.

Rohini explained and talked about the design of the peacock in the Chamba Rumaal. She talked about the minute details of the rumaal. She talked about the detailing and design of Chamba rumal. All the participants showed their co-created Chamba Rumal. The host thanked Dr Rohini Arora.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
