Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Advanced String Art Workshop with Riya Sood

string art

The origins of string art go back to the 19th century. It was first introduced by Mary Everest Boole from England, who used curve stitching to help children to teach Mathematics. All shapes are geometric shapes. The curve obtained from strings based on two intersecting segments is called Quadratic Bezier.

Rooftop brings Advanced String Art Workshop with Riya Sood.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with Riya narrating her journey as a crafter and briefing about the workshop. She taped the design template on a wooden board sized 6*6*1 (inches). She explained the points where to hammer the nails equidistantly. She inserted the nail with the hammer. She shared important tips about using paper thread and nails with a proper head. She removed the design template. She started linking various nails with orange paper thread in a diagonal pattern. After filling the paw design diagonally she started a second round of diagonally adjusting the string in a reverse pattern. She made a zig zag for the fingers of the paw.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

All attendees loved the advanced string art workshop. The attendees were delighted to learn something new and unique.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
