Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

String Art Workshop By Niharika Sharma

String Art Workshop By Niharikha Sharma

String Art Workshop: String Art or Thread art as it is commonly known, is an arrangement of coloured thread strung between points to form geometric or irregular shapes. To explore this horizon of art, Rooftop curated a String Art Workshop and invited Niharika Sharma. She is a college student and she started doing string art in the past 11 months. Exploring other art forms, she decided to showcase her artwork through her Instagram page. She also customises string art for others.

The String Art Workshop Began

Niharika elaborated about the materials required to all the 15 attendees. She began by explaining how to draw the desired shape perfectly on the wooden plank. Niharika also explained and demonstrated the hammering of nails onto the plywood. Some of the attendees worked alongside her whereas some took notes diligently. Then, she explained how the woollen thread has to be turned around the nails.  The curious attendees asked several questions about the kind of plank and thread used for this art form. Niharika patiently answered the questions while wrapping the thread around the nails.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the workshop, Niharika displayed some of her string artwork to the participants. Few participants had successfully created their own string art and showed them on their cameras.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
