Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Realistic Art Workshop with Soumili

Realistic art

Realism refers to the mid-nineteenth century artistic movement that was characterized by painting subjects from everyday life in their natural manner. The term is generally used to describe artworks that are painted in a realistic photography way. French novelist Champfleury coined the term in the 1840s. To spread awareness about this art form among the Circle family, Rooftop organized a detailed workshop about this stunning yet visually appealing art with Soumili.

About The Artist

Soumili is a 19-year-old who is studying statistics with a dream of becoming an artist. She hails from the city of joy which is Kolkata.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction of Soumili, her artistic journey and her experiences. Soumili then introduced realistic art in detail and said she will be explaining the 2D butterfly. She started sketching the butterfly on a canvas and coloured it with shades of light and dark blue. She created the outline of the wing and the spots in black and white colour. She advised everybody to seek inspiration from the art and practise it and cleared the participants’ doubts and queries.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

All the attendees co-created with Soumili and showed their beautiful blue butterflies which looked really lovely and colourful. The butterfly looked realistic due to the 2D effect. Soumili was delighted to see all the blue butterflies.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
