Pichwai lotus acrylic painting with Mehak

Pichwai lotus painting

Pichwais are devotional paintings that celebrate different tales from the life of Lord Krishna. In the Sanskrit language “Pichh” means back and “wais” means hanging, so Pichwais are paintings that hang behind the main deity of Krishna. Pichwai art has a rich history and cultural significance with it. It goes back almost 5 centuries ago to the temple town of Nathdwara near Udaipur in Rajasthan.
