Pichwai Art Workshop By Minal Sinha

Pichwai Lotus Painting coaster

Pichwai (pichvai) is a style of painting that originated over 400 years ago, in the town of Nathdwara near Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. Intricate and visually stunning, pichwai paintings, made on cloth, depict tales from Lord Krishna’s life. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special workshop and invited Minal Sinha.

Minal is a well known Indian Folk artist and Art Entrepreneur. She has lived in over 7 countries and travelled extensively. Her artistic style is an amalgamation of diverse cultures and locales. She is the founder of Yellow Frames Art Studio – an online art organisation that conducts Art Workshops, Art Events, Art Training and Online Art Lessons for all art enthusiasts. Yellow Frames pursues art as a therapeutic exercise to bring Happiness, Relaxation, Healing, and Stress Reduction which helps participants find another favourite hobby!

Pichwai Art Workshop Began

Minal Sinha started the workshop with an introduction to Pichwai art form. She gave some insights into the historical and cultural background of the art form. Further, explained how to go about drawing the lotus and outlines for the artwork.

Minal explained the procedure in a layman’s language which was understandable to all the attendees. She also encouraged the attendees to add their patterns to their artwork. She also gave an insight into how to use watercolour and which colours will be used for the painting.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

The workshop was very interactive and interesting. There were a lot of queries from the attendees to learn more about the art form, the kind of brushes to be used for watercolour. Minal welcomed those queries. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their beautiful artworks.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, we take your leave. See you next time!
