Patachitra or Pattachitra is a general term for traditional, cloth-based scroll painting, based in the eastern Indian states of Odisha and West Bengal. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this modern art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a Pattachitra Art Workshop  and invited Dr.Sukanya Mishra.

Dr. Sukanya Mishra hails from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Presently, she is pursuing Post Graduation in Implantology. Pattachitra art is her forte. The handicrafts done using pattachitra, the intricacies always mesmerises her, and she cannot take her eyes away from it. During the lockdown, she opend a instagram page. After that she collaborated with her sister and started the page tint.tales on instagram. Also, she got recognition from The New Indian Express where our artworks were published in the Edex column.

Pattachitra Art Workshop Began

The Pattachitra Art Workshop began with a brief introduction to the artist. The artist then proceeded to brief the attendees about the pattachitra artform and its history. Sukanya started drawing the borders and also stated the importance of motifs.

Furthermore, she made completed the borders by filling various patterns. She explained how to draw the pattachitra fish using some basic techniques. After completing the illustration our artist proceeded to give some insights about the watercolor to be used for the painting.

Towards the end of Workshop

Sukanya used a brush pen to enhance the borders by creating curves. The Pattachitra workshop was very interactive and interesting. The attendees had some queries which were welcomed. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their beautiful artworks.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
