One Stroke Painting on Bottle Workshop with Priya Satish

One Stroke Painting

One stroke painting is the art where you dip your paintbrush into two different shades of paint and create different tints by adding or releasing pressure from the brush with each curve and stroke you make. It’s the art of the brush masters. One Stroke painting is a popular and interesting painting technique where double and multi-loading is used to achieve highlights, shadows and color changes in one stroke. It consists of loading a brush with two separate colors and achieving the shading and highlighting in one stroke.

To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this modern art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a One stroke Painting on Bottle Workshop and invited Priya Satish.

Priya is a graduate in Chemistry, a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer, allured towards the alchemy of art for the past 21 years. Dance has taught her that any sense of direction to her future should come out of her own hands. This reflection contributed to engaging her wishes in sketching. The blending of colours in creating works of art has always fascinated her. She likes all traditional Indian art forms, Tanjore Painting and Kerala Murals being her all-time favorite. Gradually, she realized her love and inclination towards vintage, rustic, wooden, masculine, distressed, shabby chic and ethnic art forms too. In most of her works, you can see a positive quote that encourages one to believe in oneself. She is a Fevicryl Specialist from India and Internationally Certified One Stroke Painting Instructor. She’s a designer at Mixed Media Academy and founder at Revisiting Our Rootz.

One stroke Painting on Bottle Workshop Began

We started the workshop with the instructions given by the artist. She gave the introduction about the workshop of where it was found and how it is done. She started showing strokes with a flat brush so that everyone can get a hang of it. The attendees learned different strokes and the technique of how to load and unload the brush.

Artist had already applied two coats of white color on the bottle on which they would learn the one stroke. With acrylic crimson red and white color we started painting the bottle background and loaded the brush to create a stroke. We created the flower design on the bottle which had purple, pink, green and blue colors used on the bottle which gave it the look of a bouquet. A beautiful bouquet one would never want to give and keep for a long time. We scooped some more colors to do the fillers on the bottle.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Moving further the attendees share their alluring one stroke bottles and their final artwork. Artist gave some tips and tricks for creating lovely tulips, sunflowers, roses and other patterns which were truly the best versions of one-stroke paintings. The attendees seemed immersed in the workshop and thanked Rajasthan studio as well as the artist for introducing them to such a unique art form.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
