Mughal Art is a particular style of South Asian, particularly North Indian (more specifically, modern-day India and Pakistan) painting confined to miniatures either as book illustrations or as single works to be kept in albums. It is a unique art form that has been learned and carried through out generations. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special Mughal Floral Art Workshop and invited Vishakha Sharma.
Vishakha Sharma is a freelance artist and pattern designer exploring art forms and patterns inspired by Indian monuments. She is an Architect by profession and has completed her graduation from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi. Vishakha mostly works with Gouache as a medium but has worked with acrylics, water paints, oil paints, etc as she likes to explore new mediums. She has a heart for Mughal Architecture and hence the Mughal style of Art is what she loves the most.
The Mughal Floral Art Workshop Began
The Mughal Floral Art Workshop began with a short introduction of the artist. The artist Vishakha gave insights into the intricacy and beauty of Mughal florals. Moving further with the workshop we start with making a lotus, and then making leaves, and stem. She folded a real leaf and demonstrated how to draw a folded leaf.
As her symmetries were perfect, attendees were quite curious to learn how it is done. She shared that the drawing gets symmetrical with practice to get a composed art piece at the end. After the completion of the drawing we move further with the painting part of the Mughal art piece.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
We start painting with gouache colours because it gives the opaque look which makes the artwork look even more beautiful. She showed different patterns, curves, shapes, and intricate work. The attendees seemed immersed in the workshop and also asked for another workshop. Everyone was amazed and surprised when Vishakha showcased some of her previous artworks. The overall workshop was a delightful experience.
The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
