Mix Media Workshop With Deepa

Artists assemble and put together different mediums of art, this expression of breaking boundaries of art is called Mix Media. Diverse materials are combined in order to make explicit artwork. Mix media inspires artists to bring an additional amount of creativity without any restrictions. To learn more about such unique styles, The Circle Community conducted a workshop with Deepa Ravi Chandra.

About The Artist

Deepa is a self-learned professional artist and happily married with two kids. Her art journey started as a hobby and turned into a profession. Art has fascinated her in all ways and, no matter what was going on in her life, art provided her comfort in all ways.

The Workshop Began

In Mix Media art, there are a number of materials to be used. For this workshop, Deepa used synthetic brushes, clay mold, mixed media texture paste, plaster of paris, glue, and a few other things. She brought a photo printout of Buddha and decided to work on creating art around it. She tore the photo roughly around the outline of Budhha.

She began working on creating a clay mold layer by kneading and rolling it out in an oval shape. Then she added some glue onto the canvas and stuck the mold.

She used her hands to create an embossed effect on the boundary of the mold. Moving ahead, she stuck the photo of Buddha on it and painted the remaining background a sea blue colour.

The rest of the canvas is covered with a mixture of plaster of paris and glue, which gave a textured background to the painting. She painted the textured covering black and gave a golden highlight to it.

Towards The End of The Workshop

Deepa showed some of her own artwork that she had created with Mix Media. She gave some reference pictures that attendees could use to create such art. The workshop was overall a contemporary approach and everyone looked forward to creating something similar for themselves.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
