Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Mini Dream Catcher Workshop By Hetal Joshi

Mini Dream Catcher Workshop

Mini Dream Catcher Workshop: A dreamcatcher is a protective talisman that is used to protect people from nightmares and bad dreams. It filters out bad dreams and ensures a good night’s sleep. The tradition spoke of hanging the dreamcatchers over the cradle and beds of young children. To teach this beautiful art of making dream catcher, Rooftop curated a Mini Dream Catcher Workshop and invited Hetal Joshi. She is an MBA by profession and now practices as a full time crafter. She began her art journey in Ahmedabad while pursuing her Masters and is highly passionate about craft. Hetal has her expertise in Paper Crafting, Fluid Art, Mirror Art (kutchi/lippan), Mix media and is a Dream Catcher artist too.

The Mini Dream Catcher Workshop Began

Hetal began the workshop by briefly briefing a little about the materials required to make a dreamcatcher. Next, she started tightly wrapping a black thread around a ring. All 30 participants watched attentively and followed her steps. Then, she showed the technique of creating a web-like pattern using a needle and thread. The attendees were quickly able to grasp the concept. Hetal also demonstrated the line design technique and the process of adding beads to the dream catcher.

The curious attendees asked several questions related to the wrapping technique and Hetal patiently answered all their queries. Then she showed the way feathers can be attached to the dream catcher making it look more beautiful.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the workshop, the attendees successfully made their mini dream catchers and displayed them on their cameras. Hetal gave them some tips and hacks which can help them make dream catchers quickly.

All the attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On that note here’s us signing off until next time!
