Madhubani Painting Workshop With Debopriya Dey

Madhubani Painting Workshop

Madhubani Painting Workshop: Madhubani Painting is a style of Indian painting originating from the Mithila region of the Indian subcontinent. This painting is distinct from other paintings because of its characteristics like spectacular geometrical patterns, use of fingers, brushes, nib-pens, matchsticks and twig pens and the application of natural dyes to the paintings. Rooftop invited Debopriya Dey for this interesting Madhubani Painting Workshop. She is an artist by passion and a fashion designer by profession.

The Madhubani Painting Workshop Began

Debopriya started the workshop by talking about the history of the Madhubani painting. Gradually, she started off by drawing the borders and then the basic outline of the painting. Filling the border with geometrical designs, eventually, she drew the outline of the fish which was the motif for the day. While drawing, she kept sharing information about Madhubani paintings. Next, she filled up the fish by drawing different patterns which are typically used in this art form. By the time she started filling the drawing with different colours, the participants had also finished their respective drawings.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

All the participants worked along with Debopriya and created beautiful Madhubani paintings. At the end of the workshop, all the participants proudly displayed their paintings on the camera, leaving us awestruck! Debopriya also showed few of her amazing works of Madhubani painting and impressed everyone!

Learning, imparting, connecting and staying creative is our motto at Rooftop and that’s the reason why we keep organizing various art workshops every day.

With this, we sign off!
