Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Little Crafties Workshop By Sanya Kukreja

Little Crafties Workshop

Little Crafties Workshop: Papercraft is a collection of crafts using paper or card as the primary artistic medium for the creation of one, two or three-dimensional objects. To explain the characteristics of this craft, Rooftop curated a workshop on “Little Crafties” and invited Sanya Kukreja, a Fashion and Lifestyle Accessory designer from NIFT. She focuses on ethical conceptual accessories and strives to promote sustainable development and upliftment for artisans. Sanya is experimental, an avid photographer who loves colour.

The Little Crafties Workshop Began

Sanya began the experience by explaining all the materials and tools needed to make the pencil holder. Mentioning the dimensions of the octagon, Sanya then quickly began to draw the layout of the octagon on cartridge paper. All the 20 attendees carefully observed and made notes for the measurements. Using a paper cutter she marked creases on all the vertical lines of the layout and then stuck the two edges of the paper with glue adding shape to the octagon. A few attendees followed along these lines and also created their own octagonal tubular shape.

Sanya shared some very interesting hacks to make the strip aesthetically appealing. Sanya also suggested various patterns, prints and colour combinations that would look good. Moving forward she stuck the cartridge to the octagonal tube and made the base of the pencil holder.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the workshop, the attendees were happy to learn a quick DIY technique to convert papers to useful articles. Some of the attendees had managed to complete their own pencil holder and showcased them over the camera. Sanya appreciated everyone’s work and shared some very useful insights. It was a very knowledgeable and fun experience for all.

The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on one platform.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
