Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Kerala Mural Painting Workshop By Radhika Goyal & Payal Goyal

Kerala Mural Painting is a traditional art form. Mural paintings mostly depict Hindu mythology and legends, drawn on the walls of temples and churches. Today the trend has shifted from wall murals to those painted on canvas and paper. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special Kerala Mural Painting Workshop and invited the lovely mother-daughter duo Payal Goyal & Radhika Goyal.

Payal & Radhika Goyal are a lovely mother-daughter duo who are really passionate about drawing and painting. They have never been trained professionally but they believe that creativity is in their blood. This pandemic gave them a chance to rediscover themselves as artists. They started their own art page to showcase their art and impart knowledge about Indian art forms and have plans to take it to great heights.

Kerala Mural Painting Workshop Began

The workshop began with a sweet introduction of Radhika & Payal Goyal. After the introduction Payal shared a lot of information about Kerala Murals and how it is different from other styles of paintings. She explained the specific colours used in traditional forms of Kerala Mural Paintings. She shared the history, origin and the art form and its essence in detail.

Radhika started with the Kerala Mural Painting and explained the steps of the process in detail. Along with that, she also gave insights on the materials that can be used for this particular art form. She shared details on the type and brand of colours to opt for. They showcased some of their previous Kerala Mural paintings to explain the colour combinations which are used often for this art form.

The workshop was full of insightful tips and techniques. Payal shared a lot of historic information on Kerala Mural art form towards the end of the workshop. There were a lot of questions put up by the attendees which were all answered clearly and precisely by Payal and Radhika.
