Kalamkari Workshop with Shruti Agrawal

Kalamkari Workshop with Shruti Agarwal

Kalamkari literally means “pen craft”. It is one of the most beautiful Indian art forms that involve block printing and hand printing is done on pieces of cotton fabrics and uses only natural colors and vegetable dyes. Kalamkari art originates from the state of Andhra Pradesh and was used to portray scenes from mythological texts which are Ramayan, Mahabharat, and Bhagwat Geeta.

The Circle Community brings together this culturally vibrant and ancient art with Shruti Agrawal.

She explained that in kalamkari outlining the sketch is done before coloring the sketch. She started painting shades of light and dark blue in the background and colored the flower and feather of peacock with a light shade of pink.

The attendees showed their co-created Kalamkari artworks and shruti gave feedback and appreciation to all the participants and she asked the attendees to connect her on Instagram for further feedback.

All the attendees showed their Kalamkari artworks to Shruti as she appreciated all of them for their creativity and artwork. The Kalamkari art was colorful, beautiful, and visually attractive. The host thanked the guest for sharing their knowledge and experience about Kalamkari art.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Circle Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
