Kalamkari Mandala art form is a combination technique that combines two old traditional art forms, Kalamkari and Mandala. Kalamkari itself means ‘pen art’ and Mandala, on the other hand, is an old spiritual symbolic art practised in Hinduism and Buddhism, which represents the mechanism and connectivity of the universe. The combination of both of these art forms creates an even more beautiful artwork. In order to explore the wonderful world of the combination art form, TCC organized an amazing workshop for the Circle members and invited expert artist Jigisha Cholera to facilitate it.
About The Artist
Jigisha Cholera is a graduate of MS University, Baroda, and is currently working with a renowned studio, while also freelancing simultaneously. Two years ago, she founded her own venture by the name of ‘Redkkart’ and has been working on it. She took her passion of arts seriously in the period of lockdown and enhanced her skills in many types of arts, especially traditional arts. For her, art is all about listening to your heart and pouring out your imagination on a piece of paper.
The Workshop Began
The workshop began with a brief introduction of Jigisha and her journey as an artist. Jigsha gave an insight into the history of both the art forms and their significance in one’s life. She then started creating the artwork from scratch also she kept answering the doubts faced by the attendees. The attendees were very engrossed in the process as they got a lot of new things to learn.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
As the workshop progressed towards completion, the participants were able to create their own artworks that they showcased to Jigisha for feedback. She not only loved each of the artworks but also found them full of dedication and effort. The workshop concluded with the attendees complimenting Jigisha and thanking her for teaching them a unique art form.
The attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to various age groups but their passion and love for art brought them together on one platform. TCC, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and fun vibe through the workshop.
