Hand Embroidery For Beginners Workshop By Roshni Methwani

Hand embroidery, of one kind or another, is thousands of years old. It was used in Ancient Egypt to decorate the hems of royal robes, in tapestries in the Middle Ages, and in ladies samplers during the Colonial and Victorian eras. It continues as an art form today. However, there are many people who still love to work hand embroidery, and it decorates wall hangings, pillowcases, quilts and table runners. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this traditional art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special Hand Embroidery For Beginners Workshop and invited Roshni Methwani.

Initially, Roshni Methwani learnt basic embroidery in college. During lockdown she started practicing just to beat boredom. Soon she realised she had a genuine interest in embroidery and took this as an opportunity to start documenting the portraits, this made her want  to pursue this art as a specialization.

Hand Embroidery For Beginners Workshop Began

Roshni started the session by teaching the attendees on how to attach fabric to the ring. She later explains the properties of the fabric that is of use. All the  attendees paid attention and noted all the key points.

She showed the different types of thread that were going to be used. There were different techniques for outlining, flowers etc. She made sure that she was responding to all queries and questions.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

The different types of knots were explained by her in great detail. All the minutest details were covered and explained clearly. The attendees were very excited to showcase their work. The Hand Embroidery For Beginners Workshop ended with everyone showcasing their beautiful art.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan Studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
