Fabric Painting Workshop: Fabric Painting is the process of creating colourful designs and patterns on fabric using paints. To give a hands-on experience in fabric painting, Rooftop curated a Fabric Painting Workshop and invited Tamanna Jasuja. She is a fashion designer, who has always been drawn to the fashion industry. As lockdown happened amid her educational experience in fashion, she didn’t want to stop and she kept working. Soon she realised how an old box of fabric paints and brushes turned out to be the best business startup for her.
The Fabric Painting Workshop Began
Tamanna started the workshop by explaining the materials required for fabric painting to all 25 participants. Then she explained the various types of fabrics and how painting varies on each of them. Next, she drew the basic outline of the motif – flowers, leaves, cherry and strawberry. Taking fabric colours and a round brush she started painting the motifs. Eventually, she added detailing with white paint. Tamanna also explained several techniques applied to transfer the design on fabric.
The curious attendees asked several questions related to different cloth painting techniques and colours. Tamanna answered all the queries patiently.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
Taking a rectangular sponge, she applied to paint it and dabbed it on the cloth, creating an effect of a block print. In the end, she also suggested a few motifs like triangles and other geometrical shapes which can be most suitable for men. The enthusiastic participants successfully painted beautiful flower motifs on cloth and jute bags. At the participant’s request, Tamanna displayed some of her fabric paintwork including the Organza dupatta, mesmerizing all the attendees.
All the attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to other age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.
Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
