Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Expression Illustration Workshop By Simran Jain

Expression Illustration Workshop

Expression Illustration Workshop: Expression Illustration is the art of drawing facial expressions which is a form of nonverbal communication and also forms an important part of any artwork. To experience how to communicate expressions through illustration, Rooftop curated an Expression Illustration Workshop and invited Simran Jain, who is pursuing her Bachelor in Dental  Surgery. She is a self-taught artist and very passionate about art. Simran loves to experiment and create new art pieces. She firmly believes that practice is the key to success.

The Expression Illustration Workshop Began

Simran began the experience by explaining various facial expressions and emotions. She explained how to interpret each emotion through illustration. All the 25 attendees paid keen attention and also made notes. Further, she demonstrated how to draw lips and eyes in three different styles each. All the attendees drew along with Simran. She painted the expressions and suggested some very funky colours to make the expressions look quirky.

Once the attendees had a hang of creating illustrations, Simran asked everyone to create a set of eyes and lips that would express an emotion. All the attendees worked towards this brief, while Simran made sets of three very interesting expressions. All the attendees worked on their expressions and created some very unique and innovative expressive faces combining the eyes and lips.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

At the end of the workshop, all the attendees had completed their unique yet very quirky expressive facial illustrations.  The attendees showcased all their illustrations to the camera. Simran looked at everyone’s illustrations and loved their work. Everyone tried to guess what expression each attendee tried to show and made it a more interactive session. The experience was very insightful as well as fun.

All the attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
