Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Dare To Square with Crochet Workshop By Ilham Modi Bharmal

Dare To Square With Crochet Workshop

Dare To Square with Crochet Workshop: Crochet is a French word that means ‘small hook’. It is a process of creating textiles using yarn and a Crochet Hook. It is an age-old art, through which one can stitch its way to make toys, tea coasters, sweaters, mufflers, and earrings. Rooftop curated a Dare To Square with Crochet Workshop and invited Ilham Modi Bharmal. Ilham is an A level at a Cambridge School in Thane and also has her label under the name Crochet Kahaani.

The Dare To Square with Crochet Workshop Began

Before beginning the workshop, Ilham interacted with the circle members and understood their level of expertise in Crocheting. Ilham started the workshop by storytelling for a more interactive and fun workshop. She patiently explained how to create a base for any Crochet design and also explained each step based on the story she told at the beginning of the workshop. A few participants were curious about the kind of yarn they could use for crocheting, to which Ilham replied that any thick yarn can be used for crocheting.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Ilham, throughout the experience, explained the process in a storytelling format which made it easier for the participants. All 16 participants were successful in creating the base of their Crochet. Before concluding the workshop Ilham congratulated each participant for not giving up and shared a few tips on how to create a blanket or a muffler using the same technique. The one thing that stood out in this workshop was the age bracket of the participants. From young teen girls to mid-aged women as well as a grandmother, everyone signed up for the workshop.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
