Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Crochets Basic Workshop with Shruti Kumar

Crochet art workshop

Crochet is an art process in which with the help of a crochet hook, loops of yarn, thread and wool are intertwined into creating designs of one’s choice. The process of designing crochet is quite sedate, where one has to be highly focused as we have to put together strands of threads into one complete piece. To make our Circle family more aware and knowledgeable about crocheting in an exciting way, Rooftop organized a very intriguing session with artist Shruti Kumar.

About the artist

The session was hosted by artist Shruti Kumar who loves crocheting dearly. She is a self-taught crocheter; she started her journey in 2016 after she discovered her love for the art form. In 2019, she came up with her own brand named Tangled which offers a wide range of handcrafted crochet products ranging from toys to home decor. Shruti thus converted her love for crocheting into a blooming and prospering venture of her own.

And The Workshop Began

The workshop started with Shruti greeting each of the attendees and expressing her heartfelt gratitude to all the attendees of the session. Hereon, the session kicked off with a highly energetic vibe that kept both the artist and attendees engaged throughout the session. Shruti also pointed out the increasing enthusiasm for the art form and went on to describe various basic points to be kept in mind while making crochet. Attendees also came across the importance of various parts of a crochet-like slip knot, foundation chain and single crochet.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As the session progressed towards its end, a gleam of satisfaction and happiness could be seen on the face of every attendee. The attendees got to know the basics of crocheting and the importance of the tools and materials used in the process. The session proved to be a promising one. To conclude, Shruti displayed one of her toys that she designed by using just a single crochet! This developed a sense of inspiration and desire in the attendees to achieve similar goals. The session ended with a positive note by Shruti.

The attendees came from different parts of the country and were of various age groups, but were united by their love for art that eventually brought them to one platform. Rooftop once again successfully connected the artists and created magical moments to be cherished for a lifetime.

On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
