Acrylic Food Illustration Workshop with Sejal Gupta

Acrylic Food Illustrations

Food illustration focuses on color as it plays a major role in determining the mood of an illustration visually. The aim of food illustration is to celebrate the beauty of food using colors. Acrylic food illustration is fun to draw because it has a lot to convey through textures and honors cuisines of various cultures.

Rooftop conducted an Acrylic Food Illustration Workshop with Sejal Gupta to make this art form popular.

About The Artist

Sejal Gupta is passionate about art and is skilled in food illustration. Art was just a hobby for her but she decided to pursue it full-time. She is currently studying textile and print designing at the National Institute of Fashion Technology and also indulged extensively in art during the lockdown. She has also opened up a shop on various platforms as a small business owner.

The Workshop Began

The workshop began with an introduction to Sejal and her journey as an artist. Sejal greeted the participants and explained that she will teach them how to illustrate a pizza. She started sketching the pizza and continued making the crust with the cheese dripping down. She continued creating all the veggies which are toppings on a pizza and advised on various tricks and tips to make the illustration better.

She started painting the background with a light blue color, white, brown, and ochre color for the cheese. Gupta continued coloring the toppings with green, yellow, and red for all the toppings and concluded the illustration by outlining all the elements of food illustration.

Towards The End of The Workshop

Sejal taught the attendees to make food illustrations of pizza, with all the toppings and colors as they were aesthetic, visually pleasing, and extremely tempting. The participants co-created with her and Sejal was delighted to see all of the artworks.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
