Contemporary Pichwai Workshop With Moksharth Vora

Contemporary Pichwai Workshop

Contemporary Pichwai Workshop: A traditional Indian art originating from Rajasthan is what Pichwai is all about. Pichwai art features intricate paintings portraying Lord Krishna which is done on fabric using dark rich hues. Giving a contemporary look and feel to this traditional art form, Rooftop invited Moksharth Vora for a Contemporary Pichwai Workshop. Moksharth Vora, who comes from a traditional Gujarati family, had always felt connected to the spiritual aspect of life. Eventually, after working in the fashion industry for more than ten years, he subsequently realised that art, especially visual arts were his true calling. Thereafter, for 2.5 years, he is working as a freelance artist.

The Contemporary Pichwai Workshop Began

Moksharth began the workshop by giving insights about Pichwai artform. Starting with the basic outline of the motif, he explained how to add the detailing to the eyes, nose and lips of Lord Krishna. Using a brush pen he filled the outline with black, yellow and red colour. Meanwhile, the attendees bombarded him with several queries regarding this interesting form of art. Patiently responding to all their questions, Moksharth added detailing to his painting.

I would call my art contemporary yet it has all the core traditional elements.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

Over 130 attendees from different parts of the country joined this Circle Experience. All the participants certainly enjoyed the workshop and worked together along with Moksharth to create beautiful versions of contemporary pichwai painting. Overwhelmed with the response and the dedication of the participants, Moksharth expressed his gratitude towards all the participants. In addition, he showed some of his other artworks as well.

The enthusiastic participants completed their contemporary pichwai paintings within the given time frame and then flashed their artwork on their cameras.

Rooftop as always was successful in connecting artists and above all, curating a magical and positive vibe together.
