<strong>Bhil Art Workshop with Amruta Murali</strong>

Bhils are the second largest community in India based in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat,  Maharashtra and Rajasthan. Some Bhils trace their ancestry to Eklavya, the archer from Mahabharata. Some scholars believe that Valmiki, who penned the Ramayana, was from the Bhil community. The Bhils are agriculturalists whose lives revolve around their land.

To educate people about their culture and artistic heritage, The Rooftop Community conducted a Bhil Art Workshop with Amruta Murali.

About the artist

Amruta Murali is a self-taught artist based in Chennai. She is professionally employed in the medical field but is an artist by passion. She showcases her artistic creativity on Instagram under the handle atrocious.

The Workshop began

The workshop began with an introduction to Amruta and her artistic journey. Amruta welcomed all the participants and started working on her artwork by sketching five elephants. She then went forward and started coloring the elephant with shades of red, brown, dark green, and olive green, and decorated the elephants with tiny green, yellow dotted lines, and bigger dots with white colour. Murali concluded the painting of the last elephant with shades of yellow and orange.

Towards the end of the workshop

All the attendees had a lovely time as they showed their artwork to Amruta. All the artworks were aesthetically pleasing and visually beautiful. Amruta also showed her artwork to the participants and was delighted to see all the creations.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. They also belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop Community, as always, was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
