Rooftop – Where India Inspires Creativity

Basic Mandala Workshop with Hetal Keserwani

Basic mandala

Mandalas have one identifiable centre point, from which flows a collection of symbols, shapes, and forms. The best thing about designing your own mandalas is that you have the freedom to choose whatever shapes and colours that you feel express your sense of self and your view of reality. To explore this art form in detail, Rooftop conducted a Basic Mandala Workshop with Hetal Keserwani.

About The Artist

Hetal is a 9th-grade student from Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. She has been practicing Mandalas for over a year now. Apart from this, she also dances, codes, and does calligraphy!

The Mandala Workshop Began

Hetal started the workshop with a quick introduction about herself and the Mandala art form. She incorporates cartoon characters in her work, making her art stand out from traditional Mandalas. She begins her design by drawing different cartoons like Mickey Mouse, Doraemon, Nobita, and Gian. After removing the cartoons, she moves on to making the Mandalas. She explained her design process in great detail focusing on various patterns and designs. The workshop continued in a fun and interactive manner as she created her designs while answering questions from the participants.

Towards the End of the Workshop

Towards the end of the workshop, Hetal showed one of her earlier Mandala creations which included more cartoon characters like Shinchan, Doraemon, Pikachu, Mickey Mouse, Mini Mouse, etc. She also appreciated each participant’s basic Mandala design. Furthermore, she took the time to provide constructive feedback to everyone.

Though the attendees were from different parts of the country and belonged to different age groups, the workshop brought them together and was successful in curating a positive environment together. Still inquisitive about art?
