Art Journaling Workshop With Sakshi Shreya

Art Journal

Art journaling is a reflection of yourself. A mirror to your psyche. It’s a documented journal of your memories, emotions and thoughts. Art journals do not adhere to any norms or rules, it gives you creative freedom to express yourself through any medium or tool. And guess what, it doesn’t require the person to be an artist, rather, in fact art journaling represents the significance of the creativity and not the outward appearance. A “pillow book” as famously called in Japanese, Art journals are a stress buster and a means to express your frame of mind.

To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this modern art form, RooftopĀ curated a Special Art Journaling Workshop and invited Sakshi Shreya.

Sakshi Shreya is from Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. She is a B.Tech graduate and currently working as a Software Engineer. She started her art journey around two years back. So, she started making mandalas and slowly got into art journaling and painting. For her, art journaling is liberating. It helps her express herself. She can draw, paint, write, or do anything while making an art journal spread. There are no limitations while doing so. She has an Instagram handle that goes by “@sakshis.art”. Here, she showcases her art journey. All the spreads that she creates require really basic materials and are easy to create for any beginner. She hopes this session will be useful for all the art journal enthusiasts.

Art Journaling Workshop Began

The workshop started with an artist introduction. Artist started painting the background of the paper and after that, she did some cut-outs for the journal. The artist instructed the attendees to write some of their quotes in the journal which can be done with a brush pen, calligraphy pen or other colour pens. Artist then started drawing some unique leaf patterns with micron pens.

Artist then instructed the attendees to stick the paper which was designed with a leaf pattern on the journal and also the cutouts which were decorated with marker tip pen. We added some more leaf patterns to the background. Artist asked the attendees to portray their imaginations in a journal.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

During the workshop all attendees were curious about the other journal patterns so the artist displayed her journal giving some tips and tricks for creating your journal. All the attendees displayed their artwork to the artist, it was a mesmerizing art piece that was created in the workshop. The attendees seemed immersed in the workshop and thanked Rajasthan studio as well as the artist for introducing them to such a beautiful art journaling workshop.

The attendees were from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. The Rooftop community as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.Ā

On this note, hereā€™s us signing off until next time!
