She inspired the naming of the Indian cultural centre in Budapest on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth, UNESCO named 2013 the International Year of Amrita Sher-Gil.

One of the pioneers of Indian painting, Abanindranath Tagore, used his creations to depict the time’s political environment.
