Ganjifa art is an ancient art form that received popularity during the Mughal Era. The word ‘Ganjifa’ means playing cards. As the name suggests, in this art form, circular-shaped cards are created. The art form originated in Mysore, Karnataka and like several other Indian art forms. Ganjifa art is also mostly inspired by the historical tales of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. Ganjifa art is a fun and relaxing way to express historical tales in a whole new light.
To introduce the art with some basic insights into its history and significance to the Rooftop family. We organized an amazing workshop and invited expert artist Rajshree Nedungai to conduct the session.
About The Artist
Rajshree Nedugadi is a famous artist, author, and huge art admirer. She has gained a lot of experiences and achieved new feats in her artistic journey of 24 years. Rajshree hails from Gurugram, Haryana, and is trained in more than 350 artforms. She did her master’s in Economics but her love for art and the history behind our cultural procurement drove her toward the world of art. She thinks of herself as a blessed soul to be able to learn and master so many arts.
And The Workshop Began
The workshop began with a brief introduction to Rajshree Nedungadi, who expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the attendees. Further she went on to describe the history and cultural journey of the Ganjifa art form. She further demonstrated the process and explained each step in a very detailed manner.
She laid a lot of emphasis on the correct representation of tales. Rajshree also highlighted the methods to make hassle-free art pieces that are very meaningful and equally appealing. The session was very intriguing and exciting as the attendees were very engrossed in the workshop. All were co-creating with her.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
As the session progressed towards its completion, attendees were delighted to be a part of the workshop. Each of the participants showcased their respective artworks to Rajshree for feedback, who appreciated the beauty and effort behind it. The session concluded with the attendees appreciating and expressing their gratitude to Rajshree and Rooftop.
The attendees were from distant countries as well as from different regions of India and belonged to various age groups. However, passion and enthusiasm united all for art, which eventually led them to a single platform. Rooftop was successful in connecting artists and creating a positive and magical vibe altogether.
