Madhubani Painting Workshop With Pooja Jha

Madhubani Painting workshop

Geometrical shapes and bright colours dominate Madhubani paintings. Madhubani art is done with a variety of tools, including fingers, twigs, brushes, nib pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments. The symmetrical detail patterning inside the geometric shapes requires patience to get a neat look. The art form originated in Mithila.

Rooftop curated an amazing session for the Circle family in order to make them more aware of this fusion art form with expert artist Pooja Jha.

About The Artist

Pooja Jha is a development professional. In 2017, she began her career as a professional artist. Many of her paintings have been exhibited in international painting exhibitions too. As she grew up in Mithila, Madhubani painting holds a special place in her heart.

And The Workshop Began

The workshop began with a brief introduction to the artist and the art form. Pooja explained the history of Madhubani Art. Moving further, she explained the basic patterns required to sketch out the designs. One of the unique points of this workshop was that paints and gel pens both held distinctive importance in colouring. Pooja explained step by step drawing of Krishna and Radha. The painting was completed with acrylic paints and a gel pen. She also displayed some of her previous artworks to provide a clear understanding of the art form.

Towards The End Of The Workshop

As we progressed towards the completion of the workshop, attendees were very happy and gleeful after gaining such a valuable experience. The session taught the participants to draw Madhubani paintings easily.

The participants were from different parts of the country and belonged to various age groups, but this didn’t pose a barrier as their love and affection for art brought them together onto a single platform. Rooftop, as always, was able to bring art lovers from different parts of the country under a single umbrella and create memories that could be cherished for a lifetime.

On that note, here’s us signing off until next time!
